MONTEREY PARK, Los Angeles County — Local older residents and qualifying people with disabilities have two municipal transportation options with different schedules and prices.

Dial-A-Ride is operated by city personnel and is listed as free, with advance reservations for weekday trips from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. It primarily covers Monterey Park and certain approved medical facilities in adjacent communities.

When a taxi is needed

The separate Dial-A-Taxi program is operated by a contracted taxi company and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for eligible older residents, at a listed cost of $1 per trip. The city limits service to a maximum of two trips per day for approved destinations. Residents must register, provide residency documentation and pay a one-time $5 registration fee for the taxi option.

For applications and eligibility, call 626-307-1396 or inquire at Langley Center, 400 W. Emerson Avenue. Do not assume all destinations outside city limits qualify. Confirm fare policies and accessibility needs before booking.
